Bodybuilding and powerlifting requires knowledge of human anatomy and all muscle groups. Also requires knowledge of the structure of the muscles and their functions. All this allows you to properly develop training programs and correctly perform certain sets of exercises.
What are muscles and why are they needed?
Muscles are formed by muscle tissue and are involved in all movements of the human parts of the body. There is strength in the muscles, so a person who decides to increase his strength indicators should know that he is faced with the task of training certain muscle groups. There are several muscle groups in the human body, each of them performs a specific function and special exercises are needed to develop its strength indicators.
Strong muscles are necessary for a person so that he can cope with high physical exertion, as well as to increase the overall tone of the body. Elementary physical culture allows you to maintain muscle tone, but to increase strength, you need intense training in the gym.
Major muscle groups
In each part of the body there are several muscle groups, some large muscles in the human body must be considered separately. A muscle group is several interconnected muscles that perform the same function. So, there are several muscle groups in the human body:
arm muscles (biceps, triceps, quadriceps);
muscles of the shoulder girdle;
back and chest muscles;
muscles of the abdomen and legs.
Muscles are formed by muscle tissue and are endowed with the ability to contract under the influence of nerve impulses. Control of the muscles is carried out by the brain and spinal cord. A person has more than 600 muscles, it is not necessary to know the name of each muscle and function, but it is required to know the function and location of muscle groups in parts of the body.
The muscles of the back are composed of several layers, have a different origin and structure. In the upper layer are trapezoidal and the broadest muscles, the latter raises the scapula. On the surface of the back are also large and small rhomboid muscles, upper and lower dentate muscles. Training of the muscles of the back is carried out to increase strength indicators and create a relief body. The advantage of training this group of muscles is that they are large and are able to increase several times in the process of intensive training.
The muscles of the pelvis are involved in movement and are represented by the outer and inner muscle groups. Large, medium and small gluteal muscles – are sedentary muscles, which play an important role in ensuring the possibility of movement. There is also a group of muscles of the neck, which are divided into superficial, median and deep. They participate in semicircular movements, their training is necessary to achieve the goal of increasing the overall lean body mass.
The chest muscles are divided into superficial and deep, they are represented by large and small pectoral muscle, intercostal and subcostal muscles. The muscles of the shoulders play the role of flexors-extensors and are formed by the biceps muscle, shoulder muscle and the back muscle group.
The muscles of the thighs have high strength and are large in size, represented by the anterior, posterior, and medial muscle groups. Thus, in the human body there are over 600 muscles, which are formed by groups that perform the same functions. Knowing the function of the muscles, you can set yourself the goal of training certain muscle groups. For strength training – this is an exercise with a group of pectoral muscles and muscles of the back, pelvis. To increase the overall muscle mass of the body, first of all, exercises are carried out to train large medial and superficial muscles.
